CALIFORNIA PROP 65

What is Proposition 65?

Prop 65, short for Proposition 65, is a California law that requires businesses to provide clear and reasonable warnings to consumers about significant exposures to chemicals that are known to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. The law was passed in 1986 and is formally known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act.

Prop 65 requires businesses to provide warnings before exposing individuals to chemicals on the Prop 65 list. The list includes more than 900 chemicals and is updated annually by the state of California. Prop 65 applies to products sold in California, and companies that do not comply with the law can face legal consequences.

The goal of Prop 65 is to inform California residents about the potential exposure to harmful chemicals in products and to encourage companies to reduce or eliminate the use of these chemicals. The law has been successful in reducing the levels of certain chemicals in products sold in California and raising awareness about the potential health risks associated with these chemicals.

Proposition 65 Policy

At Tomahawk Power, we take our responsibility to provide safe products seriously. As part of this commitment, we comply with the California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, also known as Proposition 65.

Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to California consumers about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. The list of chemicals covered by Proposition 65 includes over 900 chemicals, and the levels at which warnings are required can be very low.

While our products comply with federal safety standards, some products may contain chemicals that are on the Proposition 65 list. These chemicals may be found in various components of the product, such as the packaging or the materials used to manufacture the product.

To comply with Proposition 65, we provide clear and reasonable warnings to our customers in California before they purchase products that may contain chemicals on the Proposition 65 list. These warnings may be included on the product page or during the checkout process, depending on the product.
